Propeller and the Dear Jack Foundation sent Julie A. and a friend to Denver to meet Andrew McMahon.

Here's what Julie had to say about the experience...

--------

Propeller: How did you find out about Propeller and what type of actions did you complete to earn points towards winning this experience?

Julie A.: I found out via a Facebook ad and entered by donating to the Dear Jack Foundation.

Propeller: What was the highlight of your time in Denver?

Julie A.: Boba & Crepes? Lol I don't know. Maybe having the weather flip between pouring rain and sunshine three times in an afternoon. Only in Colorado.

Propeller: Did you meet Andrew McMahon? How was this experience?

Julie A.: Yes. He was really nice to us. He'd already talked to maybe 50 fans before us, and yet he still made us feel special and valued. I was also really impressed that he recognized several of the people in front of us from previous concerts. It's really cool that he takes the time to get to know people and make us all feel cared for.

Propeller: What was the best part of the trip?

Julie A.: Sound check. Oh my, it was better than the concert. I didn't realize that they'd play almost entire songs, or at least substantial parts of them. In the silent venue, the sound of the music just filled the room in this amazingly bold way that was so so beautiful. They played Cecilia and the Satellite during sound check, and that song has a lot of pauses, and the transition from silence to the music echoing again produced this amazing feeling that I can't forget.

Propeller: Why is the Dear Jack Foundation important to you?

Julie A.: I don't have a lot of personal connection to it - cancer hasn't affected my life much, directly or indirectly. But I have a lot of respect for the organization. What I love about it is that Andrew engaged in a world that he knows intimately, and that Dear Jack Foundation stays focused on the community and goals that it can serve best. It forgoes the "I can save the whole world" ego, doesn't claim to "beat cancer", and instead invests in individual people and really helps them through the tough times. I admire that a lot, and it's made me rethink how I should be giving back.
