On June 26th, a federal judge ordered all children in ICE family jails to be released by July 17 due to the spread of the coronavirus and the horrific conditions they have been subjected to.
This is an incredible moment for our movement, but the fight isn't over yet. The judge's order does not include parents or other relatives who may be detained. Given that six children and dozens of adults have died in U.S. immigration custody, and that ICE continues to deport people who have tested positive with the coronavirus to countries around the world, we can't trust them to release families or even comply with the judge's order without massive public pressure.
