Discrimination Has A New Name: 'Religious Freedom'

Feb 6th, 2017

A copy of an executive order entitled 'Establising a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom,' was leaked this past Wednesday with contents that would essentially legalize discrimination.

The order, which was drafted by the Trump administration, states “Americans and their religious organizations will not be coerced by the Federal Government into participating in activities that violate their conscience.” In other words, individuals and organizations with specific religious beliefs will be able to discriminate against anyone who violates those religious beliefs.

Religious organizations that consider same-sex marriage, pre-marital sex, abortion, contraceptives, or transgender individuals as against their beliefs would be able to deny any person who fits into those categories, “when providing social services, education, or healthcare; earning a living, seeking a job, or employing others; receiving government grants or contracts; or otherwise participating in the marketplace, the public square, or interfacing with Federal, State or local governments.”
