This Mandola (8-string instrument, with 4 double strings, not octave) was played live for over 6 years by Chrigel Glanzmann of Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie. It was built by hand by famous Swiss luthier/instrument maker Decombe in 1983.
Glanzmann says about this gem:
"That mandola was played live by myself on basically all shows, festivals and tours from 2004 - 2010! Also I used it in the studio recording the following albums: "Vên", "Spirit", "Slania", "Evocation I" and "Everything remains as it never was". Honestly, it makes my heart bleed a little bit to part with my dear old Mandola. But this cause is well worth it. But whoever will get it - may he treat it with love and respect!"
