Congratulations to our winner Rebecca! Her and a friend will:
Propeller is thrilled to be teaming up with The Ally Coalition to offer one lucky winner and a friend the chance to win a trip to New York City for the 5th Annual Talent Show.
Take action now with The Empowerment Plan and The Ally Coalition to fund winter coats for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness. Then keep taking action on Propeller to earn more points and redeem them for more entries into the experience.
Not only will the winner get to see Andrew Dost, Bleachers, Hayley Kiyoko, Lana Del Rey, Mitski, Regina Spektor, Rostam, and comedians Jacqueline Novak and Sasheer Zamata live in New York City, but they'll be meeting The Ally Coalition founders Jack and Rachel Antonoff as well.
Socially aware music fans can take action by helping purchase Empowerment Plan sleeping bag coats for organizations supporting LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness this winter.
A staggering 40 percent of youth experiencing homelessness are LGBTQ identifying. This young and already vulnerable group is 120 percent more likely to experience homelessness than their cis-gendered peers. When young teens are open about their identity, there is a higher likelihood of them being shunned by their families, bullied by their peers, and even put out of their homes. With no one to turn to, having a safe space to go for necessities like free health care, hot meals, friendly faces, and even warm clothes is crucial.
The Empowerment Plan's warm and waterproof winter coats not only comfort wearers from the harsh elements, but can unfold into a protective sleeping bag for someone facing homelessness. The Ally Coalition has selected these coats because they are manufactured in Detroit by employees hired out of homeless shelters. Through these coats, they themselves were lifted out of homelessness.
