War Child Canada's mission is to help children in war-affected communities reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunity and justice. We empower people to create long-term solutions and environments where childhood can thrive. We've worked in conflict areas since 1999 and our reach has grown substantially, benefiting hundreds of thousands of children and community members every year. War Child takes an active role in raising public awareness around the impact of war on communities and the shared responsibility to act.
Education - We pioneer new delivery methods, adapt curriculum, train new educators, and provide children with a place to learn that is free from exploitation and abuse.
Opportunity - We provide skills training and job assistance so mothers and fathers can bring home an income, provide for their children and help their community grow towards economic stability.
Justice - War limits a country's ability to bring criminals to justice. Sexual violence, emotional abuse and family abandonment are commonplace. We work directly with local justice organizations to rebuild legal structures, provide access to free legal counsel and making sure judges, police and communities understand the meaning of rights.
